And so ladies and gentlemen, on the night of 31st August 2024, the Miss Universe Nigeria title went to Chidimma Adetshina MUN ’24. The young future lawyer will be in Mexico to represent Nigeria at the international pageant in November 2024.

Chidimma Adetshina MUN was in the eye of an identity storm in South Africa two months ago. The South Africans rejected her when she got to the final stage of Miss South Africa 2024/5. The quarrel is that though Ms Adetshina was born and raised in Soweto, her father was Nigerian.
Furthermore, there after an investigation into the matter, Chidimma Vanessa’s mother was accused of identity fraud. Her mother is actually a Mozambican who was using the identity of a South African woman. Further sealing Chidimma’s fate as a non-indigene. Her being a Soweto bred was not enough.

Therefore, they could not allow a non-South African bear the South African flag at the international pageant in November. Popular bloggers and activists for fairness, joined the protest against Chidimma. Increasing the pressure. Because she could not bear it anymore, Vanessa withdrew from the pageant two days to the finale.
The management of Miss Universe Nigeria interverned by offering her a chance to compete for the crown in Nigeria. And the rest as they say, is history.
Chidimma Adetshina MUN ’24 is a dream come true. She gets a chance to be on the international stage. The second part of the dream is about to be fulfilled; as Miss Universe international 2024/5.
South Africans say Nigerians have been scammed into having a South African as a Nigerian representative. Meanwhile, Nigerians are divided. Some say her victory is deserving and some say it is unfair to the other contestants. What are your thoughts? Please share in the comments section below.
