Dame Georgina Washington is an Antiguan national hero. She founded a school at age eighteen (18) and named it after her brother who was her principal cheerleader from the start. He tragically passed away just before the completion of the school. Thomas Oliver Robinson Memorial School accepted everyone of every race, creed and class, who desired learning. She did this because she was a strong believer in all children having access to learning. She gave a chance to local children to get secondary school education which was not available to them at that time. For over fifty-two years, she ran the school with so much passion making a huge difference not only in her community but the entire country of Antigua and Barbuda.
